(ANSA) - ROME, NOV 14 - European Commission Spokeswoman
Anitta Hipper said Monday that, when it comes to rescuing people
at sea, "there is no difference between NGO ships and other
ships".
Hipper told a press briefing that there is a "clear, unequivocal
obligation" to save people in danger at sea.
Italy told several NGO-run search-and-rescue ships in recent
weeks to stay out of a Italian waters after they picked people
up in the Mediterranean, saying they had broken Italian and
European law. (ANSA).
