Climate group halts traffic around Colosseum

We must talk about society's looming collapse-Ultima Generazione

(ANSA) - ROME, NOV 11 - Italy's Ultima Generazione civil-disobedience group staged the latest in a series of disruptive protests to highlight the need to address the climate crisis on Friday, halting traffic in the area of the Colosseum in Rome.
Members of the group sat down on a zebra crossing in Via Celio Vibenna, stopping cars from moving and in the process infuriating motorists and causing a big jam in the area of the ancient amphitheatre.
"I want to change what will kill you in a few years' time," one of the protestors told the angry commuters amid a barrage of insults before police broke up the demonstration.
A protestor called Alice said that part of the aim was to draw media attention to the looming climate breakdown.
"The climate crisis is still not talked about enough and when it is, it is talked about improperly, without naming the causes and those who are responsible," she said.
"We should talk about and hear about the social-climate collapse every day on the street, on television, in the newspapers and at work.
"It is the most serious crisis that humankind and our planet have ever experienced". (ANSA).
