(ANSA) - ROME, OCT 20 - While Forza (FI) Italia leader and ex-premier Silvio Berlusconi is happy to drink the vodka sent to him by his old friend Vladimir Putin, Brothers of Italy (FdI) leader and likely next premier Giorgia Meloni is defending true principles and an understanding of global challenges in upholding a pro-NATO and pro-EU line against Russian aggression in Ukraine, the advisor to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Mykhailo Podolyak, tweeted in Italian on Thursday.
Meloni gave Berlusconi an ultimatum to either support NATO's stance against Russia or else not join her nascent government after the media billionaire said he had reconnected with Putin, exchanging vodka and lambrusco and "very sweet" letters and was one of the Russian leaders top five friends, blaming Zelensky for forcing Moscow's hand in its move to install "decent people" in Kyiv.
"Any crisis paves the way for real leaders," tweeted Podolyak.
"While signor Berlusconi is under the effects of Russian vodka in the company of 'five of Putin's friends' in Europe, Giorgia Meloni shows what are true principles and an understanding of global challenges. Each chooses their path". (ANSA).
