Energy: Italy to get 2.7 billion euros from RePowerEU

Italy top beneficiary along with Poland

Redazione Ansa

(ANSA) - ROME, OCT 7 - Italy is set to get 2.76 billion euros from the RePowerEU Plan on the basis of an agreement reached by EU economy ministers on Tuesday. The plan seeks to help countries end their reliance on Russian fossil fuels following the invasion of Ukraine by diversifying of energy supplies and accelerating the roll-out of renewables, reducing greenhouse gas emissions in the process.
Italy, which was highly reliant on Russian gas at the start of the war but has been working hard to find alternative suppliers, is the top beneficiary of the plan along with Poland, as it is set to get 13.8% of the fund's 20 billion euros. (ANSA).
