COVID infections up 51.9%, ICU curve back up says GIMBE

New record for vaccinations, deaths down

(ANSA) - ROME, OCT 6 - COVID-19 infections in Italy were up 51.9% in the last week while the ICU admissions curve was back up by 21.1% after several falls and ordinary ward admissions surged by 31.8% while deaths fell by 8.5%, health institute GIMBE said Thursday.
    In its monitoring report on September 28-October 4, GIMBE said coronavirus cases rose from 160,829 to 244,353.
    Deaths with COVID fell from 307 the previous week to 281 this last week, said the report.
    The currently positive were also up, from 444,389 to 491,811, the report said.
    Italy meanwhile saw a new record in the number of vaccinations, with over 34,000 does administered yesterday compared to a September record. (ANSA).
