(ANSA) - NEW DELHI, OCT 4 - Four Italian graffiti writers have been arrested in Ahmedabad for allegedly drawing graffiti on two carriages of a metro train in the Indian city, sources said on Tuesday.
The four have been named as 24-year-old Gianluca Cudini from Tortoreto, near Teramo, Baldo Sacha, 29, from Monte San Vito, near Ancona, Daniele Stranieri, 21 from Spoltore, in the province of Pescara, and 27-year-old Paolo Capecci from Grottammare, near Ascoli Piceno.
They allegedly sprayed the graffiti on Saturday night, hours before the inauguration of a new metro line in the Gujarat capital by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Baldo's family said via Monte San Vito Mayor Thomas Cillo that they were in contact with the Italian embassy in India, which had given reassurances about the way the four young men were being treated.
Cillo said that one trial was taking place and another was likely to follow as the four were facing two separate charges.
