(ANSA) - ROME, AUG 9 - A 58-year-old Italian worker dies in a
workplace accident near Vercelli on Monday, the latest in a long
spate of accidental workplace deaths in Italy.
The man, a crane operator, was violently struck by a part of the
compost pit where he was working as an external employee for a
waste management company at Santhià, and was trapped in the
smashed vehicle.
He was coptered to a Turin hospital but died shortly after his
arrival there, due to a severe head trauma and other major
injuries.
The accident took place at the Forsu waste processing plant.
An autopsy has been ordered. (ANSA).
