Marmolada: 11 dead or missing-feared-dead - Zaia

Veneto governor says this should be final toll

(ANSA) - ROME, JUL 7 - Veneto Governor Luca Zaia said Thursday that a total of 11 people are either dead or missing-feared-dead after Sunday's Marmolada glacier disaster in northern Italy.
"The toll of this tragedy is pretty much definitive," said Zaia as he arrived at the Alpine town of Canazei, where the post-disaster search operations are being coordinated.
"Eleven peple are dead or missing".
On Wednesday officials said that nine people were confirmed to have been killed by the avalanche of ice and rocks that hit a group of hikers when a chunk of the glacier broke away, while three people were considered missing.
However, it is possible that the remains of a so-far-unidentified victim of the avalanche belong to one of the people who was counted as being missing. (ANSA).
