(ANSA) - ROME, JUL 7 - The European Court of Justice said
Thursday that it has ruled Friuli Venezia Giulia's regional law
banning the cultivation of GMO crops is legitimate.
The court rejected an appeal by a farmer, Giorgio Fidenato,
against a fine he received for planting GMO corn.
It said the ban does not breach EU law if it seeks to prevent
the presence of GMOs in other products and is proportionate to
achieving this aim. (ANSA).
