(ANSA) - ROME, JUN 21 - Sanctions are weapons against those
who threaten peace, President Sergio Mattarella said Tuesday.
"The context in which you act, strongly interdependent, exalts
cooperation between States against economic and financial
criminality and to affirm the principles of the international
community," he said in a message to the commander of the Guardia
di Finanza tax police, General Giuseppe Zafarana.
"This ambit includes the action expressed in the execution of
sanctions against individuals who threaten peace and security,
as happened in the Russian federation's aggression against
Ukraine".
Italian tax police have executed sanctions against several
oligarchs linked to Russian President Vladimir Putin. (ANSA).
