(ANSA) - ROME, MAY 16 - The African anticyclone Hannibal that has brought high-summer weather to Italy over the last few days and seen Italians taking their first dips in the sea will peak with temperatures of 34-35 degrees and steamy and breathless 'afa' conditions next weekend, forecasters said Monday.
"The first afa of the season will make the heat even more unbearable," they said.
The Po Valley and cities like Turin, Milan and Bologna will get the worst of the torrid weather, said Antonio Sanò, director and founder of the website iLMeteo.it.
"The waves of heat will load up on humidity on the long voyage across the Mediterranean from Africa," he said.
Conditions in the centre and south will be almost as sultry as the north. (ANSA).
