Reindeer calf torn to death by wolves near Modena

(ANSA) - ROME, JAN 17 - A one'year-old reindeer calf that had just arrived from Lapland to star in an animal centre in the north.central Appenines near Modena was ripped to death by wolves or wild dogs after venturing too far into the woods, sources said at the weekend, the Gazzetta di Modena reported Monday.
    The male calf had already been dubbed Rudolph and was set to take centre stage at the 'Animal Oasis' at Piane di Mocogno.
    It escaped from its enclosure and went into the nearby woods where its mutilated body was found a few days later. (ANSA).
