COVID-19 hospital admissions up in 17 regions - AGENAS

Proportion up to 45% in Valle d'Aosta

(ANSA) - ROME, JAN 4 - The pressure COVID-19 is exerting on Italy's health systems is rising, with coronavirus hospital admissions up in 17 regions in 24 hours, the national agency of regional health services (AGENAS) said on Tuesday.
    It said the situation was worst in Valle d'Aosta, where the proportion of hospital places occupied by coronavirus patients has risen to 45%, up nine percentage points and well above the alert threshold of 15%, and in Calabria (31%) and Liguria (30%).
    COVID hospital admissions were also up in Abruzzo (where the the proportion of beds taken up by coronavirus patients has climbed to 15%), Campania (18%), Emilia Romagna (17%), Friuli Venezia Giulia (24%), Lazio (17%), Lombardy (21%), the autonomous province of Bolzano (17%), Piedmont (23%), Puglia (11%), Sardinia (11%), Sicily (24%), Tuscany (15%), Umbria (24%) and Veneto (20%).
