(ANSA) - ROME, DEC 9 - There has been a boom in COVID-19
third vaccine doses over the last week, medical foundation GIMBE
said Thursday.
Italians have had 2.6 million booster jabs in that time, a rise
of 52.6%, it said.
And thanks to the tighter restrictions of the new 'Super Green
Pass', GIMBE said, first doses have also accelerated
significantly with a 31.7% rise, amounting to 223,000 jabs.
But infections are also up, GIMBE said.
New COVID-19 cases were 22.4% over the week, with a 12% rise in
deaths, 16.3% in hospital admissions and 13.6% in ICU cases.
In 52 provinces across Italy the incidence is equal to or higher
than 150 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, GIMBE said. (ANSA).
