(ANSA) - ROME, NOV 29 - The Italian association of town and city councils, ANCI, said Monday that it is calling on central government to make it obligatory to wear facemasks outdoors to prevent COVID-19 contagion during the Christmas period.
"The mayors have asked the government to consider whether it is opportune to make the use of masks obligatory all over the nation from December 6 to January 15," said ANCI President and Bari Mayor Antonio Decaro.
"These are the days of Christmas when there is a greater chance of crowds forming in our cities because of people shopping and wanting to be together "If there were a national rule, there would be a big benefit as we would give a single signal to the whole country". (ANSA).
