(ANSA) - ROME, OCT 20 - A five-year-old Italian girl was
crushed to death by a soccer goal in Abruzzo on Tuesday, sources
said Wednesday.
Sofia Piccioli, the only child of a 27-year-old couple from
Acilia on the outskirts of Rome, was hit violently on the head
when the goal collapsed as she was playing on it with her dog,
the family told police.
An emergency crew rushed to the scene but the head injury was
too serious for them to be able to revive the girl.
A medical examiner said the wound was compatible with being hit
by the iron post that had collapsed.
An autopsy has been ordered.
The football pitch was out of use. (ANSA).
