(ANSA) - ROME, JUN 30 - Seven people are dead and nine are missing after a boat carrying a group of asylum seekers capsized in waters some five miles from the southern Italian island of Lampedusa, sources said Wednesday.
The victims included four women, one of whom was in an advanced stage of pregnancy, the sources said.
Rescuers managed to pick up 46 survivors, the sources said.
Four boats carrying a total of 256 people arrived at Lampedusa overnight.
On Tuesday four boats carrying 136 people landed on the island.
