(ANSA) - ROME, JUN 3 - It is possible for all people aged 16 and over in Italy to book COVID-19 vaccinations as of Thursday, without having to respect age-range criteria.
Up to now, Italy's vaccination campaign had operated on the basis of a person's age, with older people and people considered vulnerable because of their medical conditions given priority.
Italy is also set to start vaccinating 12-16-year-olds after the European Medicines Agency (EMA) authorised the Pfizer jab for younger adolescents.
But the regions will decide how to manage the vaccines for these minors.
Liguria Governor Giovanni Toti, for example, told RAI television on Thursday that his region does not have enough Pfizer vaccines at the moment to start taking bookings for 12-16-year-olds.
