(ANSA) - ROME, MAY 21 - A jobs demonstration outside the
Lower House turned ugly on Friday with clashes breaking out
between protestors and police and a Carabiniere being slightly
hurt after a demonstrator tore off his helmet and kicked him in
the head.
The protestors, featuring members of the Cobas union and of the
Movimento 7 Novembre group for the unemployed, got angry when
they found out that they would not get to have a meeting with
Labour Minister Andrea Orlando.
The group moved from Piazza Montecitorio to Piazza Colonna, in
front of the premier's office, and there were scuffles.
Eight of the people involved including the man who attacked the
Carabiniere have been identified by the authorities, sources
said.
Cobas said seven demonstrators were hurt, none seriously.
