(ANSA) - LECCE, JUL 9 - A former prosecutor got 10 years in jail Thursday for rigging sentences for businessmen in exchange for money and jewels including diamonds.
A Lecce judge said the man, Antonio Savasta, committed corruption in judicial acts between 2014 and 2018.
He was also convicted of embezzlement.
Savasta was arrested in January last year along with a colleague, Michele Nardi, and a police inspector, Vincenzo Di Chiaro.
The three allegedly acted together, prosecutors say.
Savasta opted for a fast-track trial, where sentences are usually reduced by a third.
His two alleged accomplices have opted for longer trials.
