(ANSA) - Rome, June 11 - The Civil Protection Department said
Thursday that Italy has registered 379 new coronavirus cases in
the last 24 hours.
That was up from 202 new cases on Wednesday.
The number of freshly infected people in Lombardy, the
worst-hit region, is 252, equal to 66.4% of the daily rise
across Italy.
Four regions have no new cases: Sicily, Umbria, Valle
d'Aosta and Molise.
The department said there have now been 34,167 coronavirus
deaths in Italy, up 53 in a day.
That was down from Wednesday's rise of 71 and the lowest
daily daily toll since March 2, when there were 52, and the same
as that registered on June 7.
There have been 25 victims in Lombardy in the last 24 hours,
compared to 32 fresh victims Wednesday.
It said 171,338 people have recovered from COVID-19 here,
1,399 more than Wednesday, when the rise was 1,293.
There are 30,637 people currently infected with the
coronavirus in Italy, down 1,073.
Wednesday's fall was 1,162.
The total number of cases in Italy, including the currently
positive, the deceased and those who have recovered, is now
236,142.
