Man tries uses hammer on wife, daughter

(ANSA) - Brescia, July 16 - A 59-year-old man was arrested by Carabinieri police on Tuesday after allegedly trying to hammer his wife and daughter to death in the northern province of Brescia, sources said. The man also had several petrol canisters and may have wanted to set light to the family home, the sources said.
    The wife, 51, and the daughter, 21, were taken to hospital but their injuries were not said to be serious.
    The alarm was raised by the couple's son, who lives in the same apartment building on the floor below.
