'Queers in ovens', Anne Frank Roma fan

(ANSA) - Rome, February 28 - Two separate slogans calling for "queers, gypsies and Jews" to be put into gas ovens and saying Anne Frank was a Roma fan, both accompanied by swastikas, appeared in Rome overnight Thursday.
    Rome's Gay Center on Thursday reported that the slogan "I'd like in the ovens queers, gypsies and Jews" was daubed in the Garbatella district accompanied by a swastika.
    "What appeared is worrying," said Gay Center spokesman Fabrizio Marrazzo.
    "To think that in 2019 there are still some people who want to evoke the gas ovens of the Nazi death camps makes you understand how much is still to be done.
    "The government and parliament must approve, among other things, a law against homophobia as soon as possible and activate cultural actions to fight the phenomenon.
    "I thank the VIII Municipality and Councillor (Angelo) Conia for swiftly cancelling the slogan".
    The slogan "Anne Frank a Roma fan" appeared on a wall near the Circo Massimo on Thursday, two days before the Rome derby with Lazio.
    The slogan, which was accompanied by a swastika and signed "SSL" (SS Lazio), was immediately removed.
    In 2017 some Lazio fans caused widespread outrage by attaching stickers of Anne Frank in an AS Roma shirt and scrawling anti-Semitic abuse at Rome's Stadio Olimpico.
