(ANSA) - Rome, January 10 - The centre-left opposition
Democratic Party (PD) protested after Interior Minister Matteo
Salvini's said of a Tunisian migrant who died in custody with
his hands and feet bound "what should police do if they can't
use handcuffs, offer (prisoners) cappuccino and brioche?".
PD MP Gianfranco Librandi said the remark was a sign Italy
was "becoming barbaric".
Police said the migrant, who was arrested for passing off a
counterfeit bank note, had been uncontrollable and had had to be
restrained.
