Bust reveals dire migrant conditions

(ANSA) - Rome, January 17 - Police in the city of Latina, south of Rome, on Thursday staged a big operation to break up a gangmaster ring that exploited migrant workers, sources said.
    Hundreds of workers engaged in work on farms were living in "inhuman conditions," the sources said.
    Several people were arrested in the operation, according to the sources.
    A trade unionist and a labour inspector are among the people implicated in the probe, the sources said.
