(ANSA) - Rome, January 9 - Seven police officers were injured
in clashes that broke out overnight at a fan event to celebrate
the 119th anniversary of the founding of Serie A soccer club
Lazio, sources said Wednesday.
A group of fans broke away from the main group of around
2,500 supporters celebrating in the central square where the
team was created and started throwing bottles and other objects
at cops.
The police responded by using tear gas, spraying water jets
and staging baton charges.
Three fans were detained.
