Suspected arsonist held for Tuscan fires

(ANSA) - Pisa, December 19 - A man suspected of starting a fire that burned around 1,500 hectares of forest and orchards in the area of Tuscany's Mt Serra has been detained under a warrant by Pisa prosecutors following an investigation by Carabinieri police, sources said Wednesday. The suspect is a forest-fire-prevention volunteer, the sources said.
    The blaze started on September 24 and raged for many days, forcing the authorities to evacuate some towns, while others were cut off.
