(ANSA) - Rome, November 21 - A young Italian woman working as
an aid volunteer in Kenya was kidnapped in an armed attack in a
coastal area of the African nation on Tuesday, Kenyan police
said on Wednesday.
The captive is 23-year-old Silvia Romano, sources said.
Lilian Sora, the head of the Marche-based Africa Milele NGO
that the woman works for, said she is from Milan.
Kenyan police said five people were injured in the attack in
which gunmen fires indiscriminately at around 8pm on Tuesday as
they kidnapped the woman.
Somali-based Islamists are thought to have been behind a
series of kidnappings of foreigners along Kenya's coast.
