(ANSA) - Rome, October 10 - A new high was registered in
cases of violence against minors in Italy in 2017, with 5,788
felonies last year, up 8% on the 5,383 committed in 2016, the
Terre des Hommes NGO said in a report on Wednesday.
It said the most commonly committed crime against children
was abuse within the family, with 1,723 cases, up 6% on the
previous year.
The report said there were 699 cases of sexual violence -
with girls the victims in 84% - up 18% on 2016.
