(ANSA) - Reggio Emilia, September 25 - A priest and an accountant were arrested Tuesday on suspicion of threatening a judge, sources said.
Father Ercole Artoni, 88, and Aldo Ruffini, 74, were arrested for allegedly threatening the president of the Reggio Emilia court Cristina Beretti, one of the judges in the big 'Ndrangheta Eamilia trial.
Ruffini is involved in a tax evasion case in which Beretti ordered the seizure of assets belonging to him.
After the threats she was placed under police protection.
Father Artoni allegedly warned Beretti to "stay away from your office windows", and to be "careful because they know where your son goes to school", saying these threat had been issued by Calabrian mafia defendants held in the Aemilia case.
The priest allegedly passed on these threats last December.
