Woman stabbed to death

(ANSA) - Bolzano, September 24 - A 38-year-old Austrian man stabbed to death his wife, a 34-year-old local woman outside Merano in Alto Adige on Monday.
    The victim was named as Alexandra Riffesser and the alleged murderer Johannes Beutel.
    The woman's sister, who lives in the same house, heard her screams and called the police - it was not, as initially reported, the husband who called them.
    The incident took place at the family agriturismo Huberhof, a chalet among the vineyards between Merano and Lagundo.
    The couple's two small children were with their grandmother in another part of the chalet, police said.
    The woman's body was found with many stab wounds on it.
