(ANSA) - Gorizia, July 9 - Extraordinary checks to combat
illegal immigration started in Friuli-Venezia Giulia on Monday
with operations at the frontier between the provinces of Gorizia
and Trieste.
The decision to stage the checks was made during a security
meeting in Trieste featuring Prefect Luigi Savina, as well as
the police chiefs of Trieste and Gorizia.
