Rugby players fined for Venice play

Staged improvised line-ups and scrums, flouting permit

(ANSA) - Venice, April 19 - A dozen New Zealand and Australian rugby players were fined Thursday for playing an exhibition game in Venice's iconic St Mark's Square recently.
    The San Donà Rugby club players allegedly overstepped the mark of a permit to publicise the game in the storied square, staging line-outs and scrums as well as taking the permitted videos and selfies.
    They were fined 50 euros a head, and paid up on the spot.
