(ANSA) - Catania, November 28 - Police in the Sicilian city
of Catania have arrested six people and seized one ton of
marijuana worth three million euros, anti-mafia investigators
said Monday.
The suspects have been identified as Angelo Morabito, 42 ,
Giuseppe Portale, 45, Santo Russo, 41, Antonino Napoli, 50,
Natale Pulvirenti, 54, and Girolamo Zappalà, 56.
They have been jailed on charges of trafficking a large
quantity of drugs.
Investigators started monitoring the suspects in the local
Picanello district and carried out the operation after a tip
from an informant.
The suspects were arrested on November 24 while the were
transporting the drug aboard a truck from Calabria to Sicily.
