Police arrest 21 over major works graft (2)

(ANSA) - Rome, October 26 - Carabinieri police on Wednesday executed arrest warrants for 21 people suspected of involvement in corruption in several high-profile public works projects. The case regards alleged corruption to obtain sub-contracts for the Milan-Genoa section of the TAV high-speed rail link, for work on the A3 Salerno-Reggio Calabria motorway and for Pisa's PEOPLE MOVER. A manager implicated in a probe was at the centre of landing contacts and consultancies for companies linked to himself and a partner worth five million euros, sources said. The corruption was allegedly conducted with the complicity of officials and managers of the general contractor, COCIV, sources said.
