Ordered to stay in Turin

(ANSA) - Turin, October 25 - A Peruvian mother of two killed her newborn baby earlier this month and hid the body in a cupboard, police said Tuesday.
The woman, 36, has been ordered to sign in with police in Turin pending indictment, prosecutors said.
Prosecutors say she killed the baby - who would have been her third child - shortly after giving birth to it in in the eighth month of pregnancy in a Turin flat.
Doctors at the northwestern city's Maria Vittoria Hospital called police on the night of October 3, when the woman turned up with severe post-partum hemorrhage but wouldn't disclose how she came to be in that condition.
Police went to her flat, where they questioned her husband - a fellow Peruvian aged 35 - and subsequently found the tiny body wrapped in a plastic bag in the bedroom closet.
An autopsy revealed the baby had died after birth.
The couple have two children aged five and seven.
Investigators say the motive may have had to do with the couple's poverty.
