(ANSA) - Rome, September 26 - Over half, or 52% of Italians, are dissatisfied with the civil justice system after experiencing it directly, according to a new report out Monday by national statistics bureau Istat.
A large percentage of those waiting for a verdict for five years or more reported "deep dissatisfaction" (67.3%), as did those who incurred heavy unexpected costs (70%). As well, 1.55 million people said they gave up on suing in civil court in fear their expenses would outrun potential awards (30.8%), that their case would drag on for years (25.6%) and that they wouldn't win anyway (15.5%).
The data was based on 2015 surveys.
