(see related)(ANSA) - Rome, August 24 - The mountain village of Amatrice in northern Lazio appeared to be the worst hit by Wednesday morning's 6.0 magnitude earthquake with 35 victims confirmed so far, ANSA has learned.
    The village was rent literally in two by the rubble, with rescue workers lining up the bodies in two separate locations, one to the north and one to the south.
    Eleven victims were reported in nearby Accumoli and 10 in the municipality of Arquata del Tronto, which includes the hamlet of Pescara del Tronto, in the Marche region. Separately, Lazio regional authorities said as of 10:30 the medical emergency service Ares 118 had handled 97 cases, of whom 28 were treated on site, 50 taken by ambulance and 19 airlifted to Rome hospitals. Four medical outposts had also been set up and a total of 70 ambulances and three rescue helicopters employed in the rescue operations.
