Child rapist sentenced to eight years

(ANSA) - Rovigo, June 30 - A Rovigo court on Thursday sentenced a 68-year-old pensioner to eight years in prison for raping his girlfriend's eight-year-old daughter in 2006.
    The court found the defendant guilty of approaching the child while her mother was out of the house and she was in bed asleep, taking off her clothes and raping her.
    He was also sentenced to pay damages of 100,000 euros in damages.
    The prosecution had requested a prison sentence of nine years.
