(ANSA) - Bolzano, June 27 - A German climber fell 300 meters
to his death from Ivigna Peak in Italy's northern Trentino-Alto
Adige region on Monday.
The deceased aged 59 was from the city of Leipzig and was
on his way to the top with his son and his son-in-law when he
lost his balance just 30 meters away from the peak, which lies
at altitude of 2,581 meters.
A civil protection helicopter intervened to airlift the
body off the crag.
His wife and daughter were in the valley below, and were
notified of the death.
