(ANSA) - Brescia, June 24 - Expert witnesses appointed by a Brescia judge said Friday that Claudio Giardiello, who is charged with killing three people in a shooting spree at Milan's court of justice last year, is mentally fit.
Mental health experts Sergio Monchieri and Vittorio Filippini on Friday testified that Giardiello is not paranoid, as claimed by his defense attorney Andrea Dondè.
Giardiello, 58, is on trial for shooting dead his co-defendant in a bankruptcy case, Giorgio Erba, his lawyer Lorenzo Claris Appiani and the judge hearing the case, Fernando Ciampi.
The trial was adjourned to July 1 and the sentence is expected on July 14.
Giardiello on April 9 last year opened fire during a hearing in a fraudulent bankruptcy trial into the crack-up of the Magenta Immobiliare real estate company.
He was arrested in Milan's north-eastern suburb of Vimercate shortly after fleeing the scene on a motorbike.
Prosecutors said Giardiello acted in cold blood, firing a total of 13 rounds during the rampage, which also left two people injured.
