(ANSA) - Teramo, June 22 - A six-year-old girl drowned on a
beach at Pineto near Teramo in Abruzzo Wednesday after getting
away from her mother.
A beachgoer raised the alarm after noticing the child
floating a few meters from the shore.
Medical rescuers rushed to the scene and tried to
resuscitate her as a helicopter stood by to airlift her to
hospital in Pescara.
All efforts to reanimate her were in vain.
