Shootout after security van holdup in Naples

(ANSA) - Naples, April 18 - Security guards were engaged in a shootout on Monday with robbers who held up a van carrying money in Naples' Secondigliano quarter, sources said. There were no reports of anyone suffering firearm injuries although a security guard was taken to hospital with a head wound after being hit by the butt of a gun. He reportedly risks losing an eye. The bandits staged the robbery with two cars and are on the run after successfully getting away with a haul of cash, sources said. The heist caused widespread panic, police said.
