(ANSA) - Rome, April 15 - Calabria's Rossano prison holds
all 19 of Italy's "radicalised" prisoners, and there are 200
other prisoners in the Italian prison system labeled as "persons
of attention", according to Patrizio Gonnella, president of the
Antigone Association, which released its 12th annual report on
Italian prisons on Friday.
Gonnella warned, however, against taking "exacerbated tones
on risks and creating tension in prison".
"Tension produces violence, which in turn brings
radicalisation," Gonnella said.
He said there are 449 juveniles in detention centres in
Italy and "the phenomenon (of radicalisation) is easily
verifiable and containable" with monitoring for risk.
