Man cops to killing mum's boyfriend

(ANSA) - Cuneo, April 7 - The son of the girlfriend of a man who was stabbed to death in his sleep has confessed to the murder, police said Thursday. Yosif Popovic, 20, told police under questioning that he killed 54-year-old shopkeeper Vittorio Sottero on Saturday night in the Piedmont village of Guarene d'Alba. He was driven by frequent arguments with the victim, police said. Popovic did the deed while his mother slept next to Sottero. Police arrested him in the basement of the home, still in the blood-stained clothes he wore while committing the murder. Police say they have yet to recover the murder weapon, likely a kitchen knife.
