(ANSA) - Rome, April 4 - A one-legged 52-year-old Italian man
is to try a record swim from Cuba to Key West in September.
Salvatore Cimmino, from Torre Annunziata, lost his leg to a
tumour at the age of 15.
He will be monitored by Rome's Campus Biomedico during the
166-km swim, becoming what has been called a "human laboratory"
for biomedical science.
He is expected to take some 60 hours to complete the swim.
