(ANSA) - L'Aquila, February 26 - L'Aquila city prosecutors on Friday placed a suspect under investigation for fraudulently claiming to have influence over public officials in order to obtain a bribe.
Chieti-based engineer and surveyor Francesco Maria De Deo, 49, allegedly obtained 8,000 euros in exchange for access to a 38-million-euro city services contract in virtue of his non-existent connections with Democratic Party (PD) L'Aquila Mayor Massimo Cialente and with Giovanni Legnini, currently the head of the judiciary's self-governing body, the Supreme Council of Magistrates (CSM).
The suspect is also accused of issuing invoices for non-existent operations aggravated by committing a crime in order to conceal another crime.
