(ANSA) - Rome, January 19 - The Lower House on Tuesday gave a definitive OK to a government decree on the Roman Catholic Jubilee of Mercy Holy Year.
The decree, which now becomes law, was approved by 256 votes to 146.
The decree earmarks some 159 million euros for the Jubilee Fund (94 for 2015 and 65 for 2016) to be spent on public services and refurbishing Rome for the hotly anticipated event, which began December 8 last year and runs until November 20 this year.
The decree also contains measures for the redevelopment of the Milan Expo site, for the former steel plant area at Bagnoli near Naples, and for the toxic-waste-infested area near Naples known as the Land of Fires.
