Schools scrubs Xmas concert

'ISIS is taking us for fools' says Salvini

(ANSA) - Milan, November 27 - A school near Milan has scrapped its planned Christmas concert and removed a crucifix in order to stage a more 'secular' event, Milan daily Il Giorno reported Friday.
Anti-immigrant Northern League leader Matteo Salvini vainly tried to phone the head of the school at Rozzano on a radio show, saying "cancelling traditions is a favour for terrorists".
"Just think how ISIS is taking us for fools as they listen to us," he said, using a vulgar word for fool.
Rozzano Mayor Barbara Agogliati said she would ask the school head to reinstate the traditional concert.
Politicians from Silvio Berlusconi's centre right Forza Italia party and others from the small centrist Catholic-inpired UDC party urged Education Minister Stefania Giannini to step in and change the principal's mind.
A school near Bergamo recently made a similar move.
