(ANSA) - Pescara, November 24 - The trial in Britain of 24-year-old Italian Samira Lupidi on charges of stabbing to death in Bradford her two daughters, Jasmine Weaver and Evelyn Lupidi, aged one and three, has been set provisionally for May 9, judicial sources said.
Lupidi, from Martinsicuro in Teramo province appeared in front of a local Crown Court Monday, the BBC reported.
According to the Yorkshire Post she appeared in a video link for 11 minutes. "Pallid face, dressed in a top and gray tracksuit trousers, Lupidi looked at her hands in her lap all the time," the Post said, "she spoke only to confirm her name and when she was told she would remain in custody".
The main question for the defense, according to the local press, is the mental condition of the woman and her capacity to understand what she was doing, meaning that psychiatric tests will be carried out.
Future court sessions will use an Italian interpreter.
